What is the purpose of Bear Spray?
BEAR SPRAY, also called BEAR DETERRENT, is a powerful aerosol spray used to temporarily impair an aggressive bear in an attempt to attack humans.
How does it work?
Bear spray contains capsaicin (the hot active ingredient of pepper) and is sprayed towards a bear’s face to deter an attack. It causes immediate irritation and burning of the eyes, nose and throat. Effects can last for 30 minutes or more.
When do I need it?
Anytime you set foot in the woods! Your bear spray should be out and ready for use.
